The Thunderbolt 3 USB Type-C to Thunderbolt Adapter from StarTech is designed to let you connect Thunderbolt and Thunderbolt 2 devices such as RAID enclosures to a Thunderbolt 3 or USB Type-C compatible device. Please note that this adapter does not enable Thunderbolt or Thunderbolt 2 devices to operate at Thunderbolt 3 speeds.
Connect first- and second-generation Thunderbolt devices to your Thunderbolt 3-enabled device using the Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt Adapter from StarTech. It is backward-compatible, allowing you to connect to first-generation Thunderbolt devices at 10Gbps speed, and Thunderbolt 2 devices at 20Gbps speed. The adapter supports bidirectional data transfers and simultaneous power delivery for bus-powered devices.
You can set up 10Gbps peer-to-peer networking between older Thunderbolt laptops and newer Thunderbolt laptops to share peripherals such as printers and storage, or for quickly migrating data to a new computer.
